Foundations for a Stronger Tomorrow: Draft State Infrastructure Strategy
Overview
Infrastructure WA (IWA) was established on 24 July 2019 to provide advice and assistance to the State Government on infrastructure needs and priorities for over the short, medium and long-term. One of our primary tasks is to develop a State Infrastructure Strategy that will cover a 20-year horizon and will reflect where we have been and where we are today, addressing future needs and emerging trends. The Strategy must include recommendations about significant programs or projects, or other options, intended to meet infrastructure needs and priorities over defined time periods. Options/responses may be built (e.g. physical infrastructure) and non-built solutions (e.g. policy, regulatory, governance).
Following extensive consultation on our discussion paper 'A Stronger Tomorrow - State Infrastructure Discussion Paper', Infrastructure WA has developed a draft State Infrastructure Strategy and is seeking your feedback.
Why your views matter
Public consultation on the draft Strategy provides an opportunity to refine and sharpen the recommendations, and identify any gaps. While Infrastructure WA is happy to receive feedback on any infrastructure-related matter, we are particularly keen to receive feedback on whether:
- you support Infrastructure WA recommendations for each sector and cross-cutting theme and, if not, your reasoning for not supporting them;
- any major/critical elements are missing from the recommendations;
- the recommendations are achievable, and whether there are major barriers to implementation;
- the completion timeframe proposed for each recommendation is appropriate, too long, or too short;
- the recommendations work well together as a complete set; and
- any further information or evidence is available and can be provided to support or counter any of the recommendations.
We encourage your feedback on these important elements.
By providing us some details about who you are, we are better able to understand your perspective and, if you are interested, keep in contact with you as we progress the development of the final State Infrastructure Strategy.
This draft Strategy is available for public consultation from 21 July 2021 and closes midnight 15 September 2021. Late submissions cannot be accepted.
The draft Strategy can be accessed here and is recommended reading prior to completing the survey.
Infrastructure WA will be travelling the state to discuss the draft Strategy as part of its public consultation process, visiting each of Western Australia’s 10 regions. Visit our Regional Roadshow page to register for upcoming events.
